After playing a very late show to a crazy crowd in Innsbruck it we drove to Bern. We played this venue (Dachstock Reitschule) last year and had a lot of fun with the crowd and the venue crew. It was good to be back.
The day turned out a bit crazy, we soundchecked TR & WS and after that Dub Trio arrived who built and soundchecked a couple of their things. Thanks god they agreed to use our drumkit, otherwise it would’ve been even more hassle. Because the drive from Bern to Geneva is pretty short we decided to have party night this night and we succeeded. Warren Suicide and T.Raumschmiere rocked the place hard and after a grueling long changeover Dub Trio filled the room with their awesome metal dub.
We loaded the bus and the night ended with me, Marco and Sabine (Dachstock crew) and a couple of bottles of Chimay Blue & Red at the Dachstock bar.

Waking up in Geneva was kind of hard after that, but soon we were back in action. Had an excellent dinner at a very nice restaurant, soundcheck was pretty quick although Le Zoo has a pretty small desk for our two acts… Once again the local crew was working hard to make it all happen and it happened. Again late at night, WS & R rocked a crowd of clubbers who were here and there a bit overwhelmed by the music and/or substances…..

Bus driver Udo (who was ff’in great btw and is sadly not with us on the second leg) told me somebody tried to break in to the bus, but he scared him away. Very interesting goings on around Le Zoo.

After a pretty tiring load out it was time for a stupidly long drive back to Berlin, had to pick up a second driver in Frankfurt and we had fog over almost all of Germany.

But now I’m chilling out at Marco’s place and getting ready for the second part, home territory, Belgium and the Netherlands. We drive off Tuesday night.

So we are on our way. We started out in Leipzig which was a very nice show. 200 km on our way to Zürich our bus died. I woke up while the bus was in a garage, guys trying to fix it. The driver had already ordered another nightliner and a normal bus to get us to Zürich in time. After a while it became clear that our bus would not be fixed in time to get us there. Quote the garage man “Ai ai ai ai”….

We arrived at the Hive Club in Zürich at around 19.00 instead of 14.00. Quick soundcheck and food and shows. Nice crowd. But being in Switzerland means that the stage level is often louder than the PA level because of the law that says: Maximum 100 dB.

We got our selves a kick-ass double decker sleepercoach now and we are happy at p.m.k in Innsbruck, soundcheck and food done, ready for another show ! Small club, very small stage but I’m sure it’ll be fun.

Yes, we are back at Conne Island. Excellent place, nice ppl, good PA. The tour has just started. I got to know the Warren Suicide crew, nice guys all around. Marco has his birthday today, I gave him a nice bottle of Highland Park and Conne Island baked him a cake.

Good start so far, tomorrow things will get more difficult, smaller rooms, smaller PA’s but we are up for it. Hopefully some pictures to share soon as well. Check my flickr page for updates regulalry the coming weeks !

Last Saturday was a very nice day: In the afternoon I mixed a very nice show for HIT ME TV and in the evening it was time for the Outhouse festival in open air theatre Cabrio in Soest, NL. In the woods I did a show that was very to my liking, most things fell into place and the vibe was good. I decided to not use my laptop but oldschool MPC+synths + fx and mixer. Excellent decision on my part, after a power failure I was back up in less than half a minute !
I got a lot of nice compliments afterwards:

Lowlands 2008 is over

So I’m almost back on earth after the Lowlands festival. It has been great stagemanaging the X-ray nights. Took some pics while at it to get you an idea of the fun that was had. Our little orange bunker (shed ? hangar?) was overcrowded almost the whole weekend. Personal highlights: Pivot, Benga, Beardyman, Fenin, Midnight Juggernaughts and our own Club Nul DJ’s.
For all those ppl who say that Lowlands is a drug infested cesspool I give you the following:
One of the artists on our stage was constantly asking us for drugs. I told him honestly I wouldn’t be able to help him. He went all over the site to try and did not succeed. Which baffled him because he was in the Netherlands and he was supposed to find drugs easily here. Even worse: he told me this had to be the only festival ever where drugs were so very hard to find. ANY festival he said and he would find drugs in a second. He went home without finding anything more than a bottle of cheap champagne. Even a certain Icelandic band known for their ethereal music came by our backstage looking for products but went on without any luck. Maybe somebody told them to try the Charlie stage
The picture is of the crowd during DJ Promo’s set. Craziest crowd of the weekend, industrial hardcore has arrived at Lowlands and is not about to go away. I wouldn’t buy the records but the energy and skill Promo put in his set was amazing. As was the crowd.

I will definitely be back at X-ray next year and I hope to see you all there !

The shows with HIT ME TV are going really well. The guys are selling CD’s like hotcakes afterwards and the crowds go wild. We just finished a week of shows as support act for the Infadels who were really really nice a great band of course ! Thanks guys…
Next week it’s a show in Oss during a dance night and supporting Voicst at Vondelpark, Amsterdam.
In other excellent news: HIT ME TV have been confirmed for the Lowlands festival this august, which is pretty much every dutch bands’ wet dream
